Vacation
Many employers believe that a regular vacation is necessary for employees to relax and return to work refreshed and more productive. Vacations are also viewed as a reward for a year of hard work. Your company can stress both aspects in your policy statement.
Both vacation and paid time off (PTO) policies allow employees to take a period of paid leave throughout the year, but they each do so in unique ways. This vacation policy could be used in conjunction with the sick leave policy, but it shouldn’t be paired with the PTO policy as PTO is an all-inclusive time-off package that includes vacation, sick time, personal time, and other needs.
