As a general matter, the laws support employer dress code/appearance policies. Therefore, employers have some flexibility in creating rules that require employees to present themselves in a way that is consistent with the employer's image. However, a complete ban on tattoos, body markings and/or body piercings may violate state and federal laws, while excluding good talent. Use this template to create a policy that fits the needs of your organization.
