There are many different forms of social media, including blogs, forums, and social networking sites, allowing individuals to connect with one another over the Internet. Employee use of social media by employees carries risks, including divulging trade secrets or other proprietary information; using the site or blog to disparage the employer; or harassing customers or other employees. Further, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has taken action against employers that disciplined or terminated employees based on their social media postings.
