Leave Banks Policy
As the economy and work/life obligations change, there are more times when an unexpected illness requires an employee’s absence from the workplace, with an impact on the employee, co-workers, customers, and the employer. The economic pressures of employee morale, employee turnover, unpaid leaves, and the fact that federal and some state employees have a leave bank benefit are causing private employers to consider leave banks. In a leave bank, employees donate their sick leave to a "bank" to be used by the eligible employee for eligible leaves.
