English Only
Employers with diverse workplaces may have employees who speak various languages. To ensure safety, maximize customer service, and for other business reasons, employers may need an English-only policy in the workplace. Federal law under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on national origin and limits the circumstances under which employers can implement English-only policies, which may be adopted for nondiscriminatory reasons only.
