Republicans attack, Democrats defend DEI programs

A week after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the use of race for college admission, 13 Republican state attorneys general (AGs) sent a letterto the CEOs of the Fortune 100, warning them not to use race-based initiatives in hiring, promotion, or contracting. In response to the Republicans threats, a group of nearly two dozen Democratic state AGs sent a letter on July 19 to the same Fortune 100 CEOs encouraging them to continue their efforts to increase workforce diversity following the Supreme Court’s affirmative action decision.

Republican attorneys general warn about use of race

Citing the Supreme Court’s decision in Students for Fair Admissions Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, the Republican AGs letter said the Court “powerfully reinforced the principle that all racial discrimination, no matter the motivations, is invidious and unlawful,” including employment and contracting.
