President Trump names Lucas EEOC chair
On November 6, 2025, President Trump named Andrea Lucas as chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) after she had served as acting chair for nine months. She was the sole Republican commissioner on the EEOC when the president made her acting chair in January. She was recently reconfirmed by the Senate for a term ending July 1, 2030.
Lucas issued the following statement:
I’m honored to be designated Chair of the EEOC. Under the Trump Administration, the Commission has made significant progress advancing its core mission to uphold our nation’s civil rights laws and protect American workers through consistent, effective enforcement. As Chair, I remain committed to enforcing the law evenhandedly, advancing equal opportunity, and upholding merit-based, colorblind equality in America’s workplaces.
EEOC issues guidance on national origin discrimination
On November 20, the EEOC released new and updated educational materials announcing its robust enforcement and awareness around national origin discrimination and anti-American bias. The agency issued a new one-page technical assistance document—“Discrimination Against American Workers Is Against The Law”—to help workers understand their rights.
