Republican senators propose anti-DEI bill for federal contractors
Republican Senators Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and J.D. Vance (R-Ohio)—both of whom are rumored to be in the running for Republican vice president—introduced The Dismantle DEI Act on the same day that former president and presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump visited Congress for the first time since January 6, 2021.
The bill would bar the awarding of federal contracts and grants to businesses or organizations with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies as well as proposing to eliminate DEI from all federal government agencies. The bill is a reflection of what is expected on DEI if former President Trump wins reelection.
