What CDC recommendations for fully vaccinated individuals mean for MA employers

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released interim public health guidance for people fully vaccinated for COVID-19. While the guidance (issued on March 8, 2021) relaxed certain safety protocols for those who have been fully vaccinated, it also urged everyone to continue to abide by mask-wearing and social distancing practices in most settings given continued uncertainty about how long any of the three vaccines will protect recipients and how effective they are against emerging variants of the virus. We break it all down below. But even with the new federal guidance, Massachusetts employers must continue to follow all state guidance and orders as well.

Relaxed guidelines for visits, masks, social distancing

According to the CDC’s new guidance, fully vaccinated people can engage in three activities that depart substantially from the previous safety standards. They can:
