OFCCP director to be nominated for IG job at OPM
On February 3, 2020, President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate Office of Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) Director Craig Leen to become the inspector general of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Because the IG position requires Senate confirmation, Leen has indicated he will continue to work in his current position at the OFCCP and will take the opportunity to complete projects he has started. However, he likely will not able to make public speeches or participate in public events while his nomination is pending.
Based on the slow pace of confirmations for nonjudicial nominations and the short calendar for the Senate because of the November election, it seems conceivable that Leen will remain at the OFCCP for at least the rest of this calendar year.
OFCCP holds compensation roundtable with NILG, experts
Director Leen opened the first-ever compensation roundtable sponsored by the OFCCP and the National Industry Liaison Group (NILG) on February 18, saying he is planning to resolve 73 initiatives before he is confirmed to his new position as IG at OPM. Specifically, he is planning to issue a directive on mediation as well as an "efficiency" directive aimed at continuing the resolution of old cases.
