Michigan permits construction, real estate, and other industries to resume work

On Friday, May 1, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order (EO) 2020-70, replacing EO 2020-59 and permitting some industries to return to work in phases.

Phase One

Subject to social distancing requirements provided in the order, work is permitted to resume effective May 1 for the following:

  • Workers who process or fulfill remote orders for goods for delivery or curbside pickup;
  • Workers who perform bicycle maintenance or repair;
  • Workers for garden stores, nurseries, and lawn care, pest control, and landscaping operations;
  • Maintenance workers and groundskeepers who are necessary to maintain the safety and sanitation of places of outdoor recreation not otherwise closed, as long as the places and their workers don't provide goods, equipment, supplies, or services to individuals; and
  • Workers for moving or storage operations.

Phase Two

Subject to social distancing requirements provided in the order, work is permitted to resume effective May 7 for the following:
