Independent contractor vs. employee: NLRB reverses Trump-era ruling
When National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) members’ terms expire and new members are appointed by the sitting president, prior Board decisions are often reversed—even fairly recent ones. The current Board recently reversed a Trump-era ruling about whether individuals are independent contractors or employees entitled to the National Labor Relations Act’s (NLRA) protections and the right to unionize.
