'First State' is first at working from home
WalletHub recently released a report ranking Delaware as the best state in the union for working from home. The study considered factors such as the share of workers working from home before COVID-19, Internet cost, cybersecurity, and how large and crowded homes are in each state. Here are some additional insights on why working from home has worked so well in the "First State."
How Delawareans did it
Delaware businesses know Governor John Carney has been front and center on safety and economic management during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of the publication of this article, the governor's office had issued 37 Executive Orders (EOs) guiding Delawareans during the health emergency.
One key component to the EOs has been, and remains, the directive encouraging employers to continue to allow teleworking:
Employees who have been working from home throughout this crisis should continue working from home unless there is a substantive change to business operations.
In other words, even well into the second year of the coronavirus outbreak, the mandate in Delaware is that every individual who can work remotely should continue to do so. The change in attitude has created a seismic shift in the way many organizations operate, especially white-collar businesses.
