EEOC settles up with North Carolina employers

When the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) files a lawsuit against an employer, it often issues a press release identifying the employer being sued and summarizing the allegations of unlawful discrimination. Likewise, if a settlement is reached in the case, it’s subject to press releases and publicly available consent orders issued by courts. Because of this, we know the details of two recent settlements between the EEOC and two North Carolina employers.

Kickback Jack’s to pay $1.1 million for refusing to hire men

According to an EEOC press release, Battleground Restaurants, Inc. and Battleground Restaurant Group, Inc.—two North Carolina-based corporations doing business as Kickback Jack’s restaurants—will pay $1,111,300 to a class of male applicants and furnish other relief to settle a sex-based hiring discrimination lawsuit.
