ABCs of EEOC’s proposed workplace pregnancy accommodation regulations

Effective July 27, 2023, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) requires employers with 15 or more employees to accommodate pregnancy and pregnancy-related complications in the workplace. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued proposed regulations clarifying employer obligations and employee rights under the Act. It requires employers to provide qualified employees and applicants with known limitations resulting from pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions with reasonable workplace accommodations, unless it would cause an undue hardship.
