CSU basketball players' discrimination and retaliation case proceeds to trial

Discrimination and retaliation claims aren't limited to the workplace. Federal and state laws also protect athletes from discrimination by colleges and coaches. In a recent case, five African-American women on the basketball team at California State University at San Marcos (CSU) sued the head coach and CSU's board of trustees for race discrimination and retaliation. CSU tried to get the entire case thrown out before trial, but the appellate court found that the athletes' race discrimination and retaliation claims should proceed.
